OSAGE COUNTY — Authorities have identified the suspect found dead following a shooting incident on Friday as 77-year-old Lawrence David Scheppers, according to the Osage County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called at approximately 9:15 a.m. to a residence on County Road 623 after reports that Scheppers had shot his wife inside their home.
When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they discovered Lawrence Scheppers deceased from a gunshot wound. His wife, 76-year-old Paula Scheppers, was also found suffering from a gunshot injury but was still alive.
Emergency responders transported Paula Scheppers by air to a hospital for urgent medical treatment. Officials have not released an update on her current condition.
In an earlier statement, authorities noted that one woman had sustained a single gunshot wound, while another individual was found dead at the scene from what investigators believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Osage County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
