Francois Primeau Obituary, Death – 60-Year-Old Bicyclist Killed in Santa Ana Hit-and-Run Crash

SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA — Authorities are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a 60-year-old bicyclist on Thursday evening at the intersection of Standard and Warner avenues.

According to the Santa Ana Police Department, officers responded at approximately 6:15 p.m. on June 19 after reports of a traffic collision involving a bicyclist. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the victim, identified as Francois Primeau of Irvine, lying in the roadway with severe injuries.

Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, Primeau was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary findings indicate that Primeau was riding his bicycle through the intersection when he was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound on Warner Avenue. Police said the driver involved failed to stop and fled the scene without rendering aid or checking on the victim.

Authorities have not yet released any description of the suspect vehicle or driver involved in the crash.

The Santa Ana Police Department’s Collision Investigation Unit is actively handling the case as detectives work to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify the driver responsible.
