BELZONI, MISSISSIPPI — Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a 17-year-old boy in Belzoni, as police confirm multiple suspects have already been taken into custody while the case remains active.
On June 17, 2026, at approximately 9:00 p.m., officers with the Belzoni Police Department were dispatched to the area of Jodie Thurman Street following reports of a shooting. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a Black male lying on the ground suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
The victim was later identified as 17-year-old Christian Warren of Belzoni, Mississippi. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
During the course of the investigation, authorities identified and arrested three individuals believed to be involved in the incident. The suspects have been named as Marcus Hughes, Marquaverious Hughes, and Marquavious Jones.
Police say the investigation is still ongoing and active, with detectives continuing efforts to determine whether additional suspects may have been involved in the shooting.
Authorities have not yet released a motive or further details surrounding the circumstances that led to the deadly incident.
