GEISMAR, LOUISIANA — Authorities in Ascension Parish are searching for a 21-year-old man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting that left a woman dead on Saturday afternoon.
According to Sheriff Bobby Webre, detectives with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office have obtained an arrest warrant for Marquell Green, 21, of Geismar, who is now wanted for second-degree murder.
Deputies responded at approximately 3:00 p.m. on June 20 to a residence on Kerry Road after reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found an adult female suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite emergency efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators with the Violent Crimes Unit later identified Green as the suspected shooter. Authorities say he fled the area before deputies arrived and has not yet been located.
Officials have confirmed that Green is considered armed and dangerous. Law enforcement agencies are urging the public not to approach him if seen and to report any sightings immediately.
At this time, investigators are continuing to gather evidence and determine the circumstances that led to the deadly incident. No further details regarding a possible motive have been released.
