According to the Hickory Police Department, the fatal collision occurred at approximately 7:55 p.m. on 13th Avenue Drive SE in Hickory. Investigators reported that Scovern was riding a 2021 Kawasaki motorcycle westbound when a 2025 MINI Cooper exited the parking lot of the Hampton Inn and entered the roadway. The motorcycle subsequently struck the rear of the vehicle, resulting in severe injuries.
