JONESBORO, GEORGIA — Authorities have identified the teenager killed in a Friday evening shooting in Clayton County as Jalil Jones, a 16-year-old resident of Jonesboro, as investigators continue a homicide investigation and search for multiple suspects.
According to the Clayton County Police Department, officers were dispatched around 6:00 p.m. to the 800 block of Mt. Zion Road after reports of a shooting. Responding officers arrived to find a teenage male suffering from a gunshot wound near the scene.
Emergency medical personnel provided immediate aid before transporting the victim to a nearby hospital. Despite efforts to save his life, the teenager later died from his injuries. The Clayton County Medical Examiner’s Office later confirmed the victim’s identity as Jalil Jones.
