AYLESBURY, ENGLAND — A major fire at Lynx Gymnastics Centre in Aylesbury prompted a large-scale emergency response on Thursday, sending thick smoke into the sky and causing significant disruption across the surrounding area.
The blaze broke out at the gymnastics facility on Rabans Close, with Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service dispatching approximately seven to eight fire engines along with multiple fire officers to battle the flames. Emergency crews worked for several hours to bring the incident under control and prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.
Heavy smoke from the fire drifted across the industrial estate, prompting authorities to advise nearby residents and businesses to keep their windows and doors closed as a precaution. Road closures were also put in place around the area, leading to traffic delays while firefighters carried out their operations.
Firefighters entered the scene wearing breathing apparatus and used hose reel jets to contain the blaze. Thames Valley Police also attended to manage road closures, ensure public safety, and assist with traffic and crowd control throughout the emergency response.
