MONCTON, CANADA — It is with deep sorrow that the Moncton community announces the passing of Bryan Harris, affectionately known as “B-Y,” a respected and long-serving 911 dispatcher whose dedication to public service left a lasting impact on colleagues and the wider emergency response community.
Bryan devoted 28 years of service to Ambulance New Brunswick as a 911 dispatcher, where he became known for his calm presence, quick decision-making, and unwavering commitment to helping others during moments of crisis. His ability to remain composed under pressure provided reassurance to both callers in distress and the emergency teams responding to critical situations.
Colleagues remember Bryan as a compassionate and dependable professional who consistently placed the needs of others above his own. His work ethic and dedication earned him deep respect within the dispatch and emergency services community, where he served as a trusted and steady voice during emergencies.
Beyond his operational role, Bryan was also deeply involved in union leadership. He served for the past decade as Vice President of Local 4848, where he advocated for workers’ rights and supported efforts to strengthen unity among his peers. More recently, he held the position of Treasurer of CUPE 1252, continuing his commitment to representing and supporting fellow workers.
Those who worked alongside him describe Bryan as a leader who combined advocacy with empathy, always striving to improve conditions for others while maintaining strong relationships within the workplace. His contributions to both emergency services and labor representation made him a well-known and respected figure in his field.
His passing has left a profound void in the hearts of family members, friends, and colleagues, many of whom are reflecting on his years of service, kindness, and leadership.
