The New Brunswick, Canada emergency medical services community is mourning the unexpected passing of Bryan “B-Y” Harris, a respected 911 dispatcher, union advocate, and longtime public service professional whose death has left colleagues, friends, and family devastated.
Bryan Harris devoted 28 years of his life to Ambulance New Brunswick, where he served as a 911 dispatcher and became one of the most trusted voices in the province’s emergency response system. Known affectionately as “B-Y” by coworkers, he earned a reputation for calm professionalism, compassion under pressure, and an unwavering commitment to helping those in crisis.
Throughout his career, Bryan became a cornerstone of the EMS communications network, guiding emergency responders and supporting life-saving operations across New Brunswick. His dedication and reliability made him a respected figure among dispatchers, paramedics, and emergency personnel who worked closely with him over the years.
Beyond his operational role, Bryan was also a passionate advocate for workers’ rights. He served as Vice President of CUPE Local 4848 for a decade and most recently held the position of Treasurer of CUPE 1252. In these leadership roles, he worked tirelessly to improve conditions for EMS employees and strengthen representation for his colleagues.
Following news of his passing, an outpouring of grief and tribute spread across social media and within the EMS community.
